LRT-1 Cavite Extension Hits 73 Percent Completion, Warns Of Lane Closures Until November 10


LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) performs non-stop works for the Phase 1 of the 11.7 km LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project. The 73percent overall progress rate as of end August 2022 covers the ongoing electromechanical works such as the laying of rails and installation of the electrical system, as well as the construction of the additional five new LRT-1 stations for Phase 1: Redemptorist, MIA, PITX Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos.

Twenty-four transport groups urged President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Junior to use technology, intelligent transport systems in particular, to help improve the commuter experience. Called the Magkaisa summit members, the group proposed the use of Smart City and Sustainable Mobility concepts that support ride-hailing services, building of more bike lanes, technology-driven traffic monitoring and enforcement, and the construction of more commuter-friendly terminals for senior citizens, children, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.

MMDA Formally Proposes Two-Day Number Coding, 4-Day Workweek To Ease Traffic


The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has formally proposed a new number coding scheme that will ban cars on EDSA for two days. The proposal has already been submitted to the policy-making Metro Manila Council, and once adopted, may start as early as May 1, 2022. Other reports suggest that it may take effect after the May 9, 2022 elections.
